Kieran Tierney among 3 players OUT of Scotland squad as Barrie McKay and Stephen Kingsley called up

Kieran Tierney has pulled out of the Scotland squad alongside Scott McKenna and Scott McTominay as Steve Clarke has been hit with a major injury blow ahead of Tuesday's clash with Ukraine. And the boss has turned to Hearts duo Stephen Kingsley and Barrie McKay to make up the numbers.

Tierney went off in the first half of last night's win over Ireland with a suspected head injury as Greg Taylor emerged from the bench to replace him. The nature of the injury meant Clarke and his medical team were taking no chances but in a post-match update, Clarke said it was only a precaution.

But following the knock he has pulled out of the squad alongside McTominay and McKenna, who will return to Manchester United and Nottingham Forest respectively. Meanwhile Hearts duo Kingsley and McKay return to the squad after long absences and will travel to Poland to link up with the group.

That comes after Clarke revealed the Tynecastle pair were in his thoughts alongside firing teammate Lawrence Shankland. He said: “He’s done great has Stephen. I just felt that with the experience Declan has, he was the one I thought of.

"I also saw him play at the weekend and he did very, very well against Celtic. Declan (Gallagher) with his experience just shaded Stephen. But Stephen Kingsley, Barrie McKay, Lawrence Shankland, I’m watching them all the time. I know they are there."
