Kieran Tierney 'a major Celtic injury worry' ahead of Rangers clash

Celtic star Kieran Tierney is now a major injury doubt ahead of the upcoming clash against Rangers - according to a report.

The left-back was absent as Scotland went down 3-0 to Kazakhstan on Thursday and later pulled out of Sunday's visit to San Marino.

Tierney, who also missed the Hoops' last meeting with Rangers , is struggling with a calf injury, reports The Scottish Sun .

He's set to return to Glasgow for treatment and could miss the Premiership showdown with Steven Gerrard's side on Sunday, March 31.

Meanwhile, Neil Lennon has explained Celtic 's injury woes this season as simply the price of success.

Key men such as Tom Rogic, Ryan Christie, and Olivier Ntcham have yet to feature under the Irishman since he took over from Brendan Rodgers.

But he believes the unprecedented schedule has taken its toll.

He said: "“We have a lot of injuries at the moment and I think that’s down to the volume of games these guys have been playing over the past two or three years, plus very little rest and recuperation.

“We have Champions League qualifiers in mid-July, so the close season is very, very short for these guys now. With the success they’ve had they’ve played in every domestic game in every domestic cup competition, Europe, and then with their countries. It’s a big, big ask for them.

“Some of them show every now and again little signs of fatigue which I understand. I can see it in our players at times.”
