Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna is in advanced talks with Ipswich Town over the prospect of becoming their new manager.
The 35-year-old joined the Old Trafford giants in 2016 as manager of their under-18 group before quickly moving through ranks and serving as a first-team coach under Jose Mourinho from 2018 onwards.
McKenna continued in that role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and took on a leading role alongside Michael Carrick though has attracted criticism from the likes of Paul Scholes for his role in United’s problems over the last few seasons.
According to the BBC’s Simon Stone, McKenna has informed interim boss Ralf Rangnick of his desire to leave the club and join Ipswich, who sacked former manager Paul Cook earlier this month.
Currently, they sit 12th in League One and nine points off of the final play-off position.
Any exit would be a further clearout of the coaching staff of the previous regime following Carrick’s own surprise exit following the win over Arsenal earlier this month.
