Kieran Dowell a Rangers 'summer transfer target' as Michael Beale eyes second Norwich City swoop

Rangers could move for a second Norwich City player with Kieran Dowell a summer transfer target, according to reports.

Michael Beale kicked off his January recruitment drive with the captures of Todd Cantwell from the Canaries and Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege as he gets set for a big summer of ins and outs at Ibrox. The 25-year-old playmaker is out of contract at the English Championship outfit and is free to talk to other clubs about a move this summer.

The Daily Mail report that David Wagner is keen to keep a hold of the former England Under-21 star but he's said to be hedging his bets over a new deal with Norwich City three points behind the chasing pack in the bid to reach the play-offs to try and secure promotion to England's top flight for next season with just two games of the season left.

Dowell has been out of action of late with an injury but plans to return before the end of the season. Steven Gerrard was previously linked with the former Everton man during his stint in charge at Ibrox and he could now make the move to Glasgow this summer.

Beale has already held face-to-face talks with a number of potential signings as he bids to at add at least FIVE new faces.

He said: We’ve spoken to two or three players. Our phone’s not stopped really because there’s a lot of players interested in coming here.

"I’ve got to make sure they’re the right ones. I’m a little bit fussy. I want to sit down in front of a player and I want to look in his eyes."

A number of key decisions have still to be made over out of contract players. Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis are amongst the group who have just weeks to run on their Ibrox deals. Beale is also keen to tie up a deal for on loan Bayern Munich man Malik Tillman.
