Kiefer Crosbie excited for Bellator Dublin after signing 'life-changing' deal with promotion

Irish mixed martial artist Kiefer Crosbie is 'buzzing' for 2020 after signing a new multi-fight deal with Bellator.

The SBG star (7-1) announced that he signed a 'life-changing' multi fight deal with the promotion at a press conference ahead of Bellator Dublin on February 22nd.

'Big Daddy' confirmed that he'll fight at the blockbuster show, headlined by SBG teammate James Gallagher's clash with Cal Ellenor, but did not confirm the identity of his American opponent.

"I'm buzzing, I'm very happy," Crosbie told the Irish Mirror.

"I'm not going anywhere, I'm sticking around Bellator and they're looking after me. I'm after signing a life-changing deal.

"You have to do that in this world to get paid what you're worth, and I know what I'm worth and it's exactly what I'm getting paid so I'm happy with that."

Crosbie reiterated his desire to stay with the promotion for the foreseeable future rather than the UFC.

"It's the way it should be (at Bellator), f*** the UFC in a way.

"I don't people getting underpaid and risking my health in here, I'm getting nicely paid now.

"I'm having good fights, selling out arenas and fighting in front of my people so it's brilliant."

The 29-year-old has fought four times in the last year, bouncing back from the first loss of his career at Bellator Dublin in September.

But Crosbie is focused on moving on from a disqualification loss and taking his opponents one at a time rather than aiming for a championship belt.

He added: "The belt isn't going anywhere - it'll always be there and I think the biggest mistake that fighters make is to rush to the belt.

"(They say) 'I want the belt, I want a shot at the belt' and it's stupid carry on. It's important to take your time, I'm only eight professional fights in.

"I know how good I am, but I can only get better. Every fight I do get better, more experienced and experience pays dividends in this sport.

"I just want to keep active and get four fights in 2020, or five if I can".

Tickets for Bellator Dublin are on sale now through  Ticketmaster.ie   and  Bellator.com , as well as the 3Arena box office.
