Kids need medical attention after vandals pour paint down playground slide

Two young children needed medical attention after a slide was covered in paint .

The incident took place at Stepnall Heights Play Park in Boughton, in the Newark district, on Wednesday, September 16.

Police believe those responsible took the paint from contractors working nearby, before covering the slide in the paint.

The children suffered a reaction after going down the slide and were completely covered in paint - with their clothes ruined.

A spokesperson for Sherwood Police said: "They were covered in paint which completely ruined their clothing and medical attention was needed due to the reactions from the paint.

"This behaviour is not acceptable.

"Early enquiries suggest the paint was removed from the area whilst painting and decorating contractors were carrying out their duties and had their backs turned."

Councillor Mark Staley, who represents the Boughton ward, said: "I saw what had happened on social media.

"It looks as though contractors may have been using the paint, which has then been taken by someone and used to paint the slide.

"Hopefully they will find whoever is responsible."

Anyone who has any information which may help police with their enquiries is urged to come forward
