Kids have cracking Easter after snotty neighbours fail to ban Glasgow egg rolling event

Kids enjoyed an eggs-tra special victory at an egg rolling event that snotty neighbours tried to ban went ahead – with more children there than usual.

In glorious sunshine in Glasgow’s west end yesterday, they rolled their painted eggs down Clifton Street amid screams of laughter.

It came after mums and dads called in the Daily Record when they received a letter from factors of the plush 20 Clifton Street apartment block.

They warned the parents that the egg-rolling event was causing “distress” to their clients.

But the factors withdrew their objections after we stepped in.

Dad Alan Smith said: “It was madness trying to get this stopped. It’s an informal community event which the families love. It happens once a year and it has been going now for 10 years.

Posh homeowners near Glasgow park slammed for trying to ban kids from rolling Easter eggs

“With all the publicity it has been all over the internet, so we’re really happy at the turnout this year.”

Another dad, Colin Bauld, said: “You can see what this means to the families. We obviously upset someone, who became annoyed at children having a great time.”

Mum Angharad Jefferson said: “It is perfect that we have such a lovely day for the children to enjoy themselves.”

Three weeks ahead of the event, parents were shocked to receive a letter from factors Taylor & Martin asking that they don’t “cause distress, nuisance or mess within the area of the property”.

● Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland yesterday enjoyed their warmest Easter Sunday on record, the Met Office said.

Temperatures reached 23C in Trawsgoed, Wales, 22.8C in Edinburgh and 20.7C in Helen’s Bay, Northern Ireland, by 2pm.
