Youngsters have been able to make the most of lockdown restrictions lifting recently, with EK82 Handball Club hosting their summer camps.
Over the past 18 months, the club held training sessions over Zoom, used spare bits of land and even car parks to keep ticking over.
But in the last few weeks, EK82 were able to use pitches at St Kenneth’s Primary School for the two-day camps.
An amazing 100 children from the community took part over the five weeks and there were plenty of smiles and fun in the sun to be had, as they lapped up the experience and expert tips from club coaches.
Head of handball development for South Lanarkshire and EK82 head coach, Michael Lavery, said: “It really was an incredible experience with fantastic weather.
“We had a blast but none of it would have been possible without the organisational skills of club committee members Gary Charles and David McGuinnes, plus volunteers from EK senior team Ewan Hunter, Aiden Robson and Guillermo Vivas, not to mention parents and grandparents who helped every day.
“It has been a really difficult year and a half for everyone, sports clubs included.
“EK82 Handball Club is no different, but, slowly, we are getting back to normality.”
The club are now back training indoors at Stewartfield and John Wright Sports Centres.
There is still space left at the primary school (P5-7) and secondary school (S1-4) clubs, but numbers are limited.
