Kids crying themselves to sleep after mum's discovery in kitchen

A mum said her children are crying themselves to sleep after she discovered one of the family's dogs was missing from their kitchen.

Samantha Black, from Prescot, said she was getting her house ready for her daughter's fourth birthday, on May 27, when they made the heartbreaking discovery their miniature Yorkshire Terrier Kobe was missing.

The mum of three told the ECHO: "A friend who was coming to do the sweet table [for the party] was there setting up. When she had finished we helped her to the car with the sweets and I looked back and saw my two dogs in the kitchen a couple of seconds before."

Samantha said she shut the door and carried on getting the house ready but when her husband Alex came home he asked 'Where is Kobe?'

The mum said: "I was convinced he was still in the house and shouted 'he's probably in the garden with Blue [our other dog] but when he wasn't that is when the dreaded fear started to kick in.

"We tipped the house upside down trying to find him, we were shouting his name, shaking his treats, no response what so ever, we then started to look around the streets with the fear that he had got out.

"Hours and hours went and no sign or sight of Kobe at all.

"We are now on day 14 and Kobe has not been sighted once. Not for a second, not by anyone."

Samantha said the support from the community has been amazing with strangers helping in the search for much loved Kobe.

She said Kobe doesn't have a collar on but he is microchipped.

She added: "Kobe is now famous on social media, his microchip is up to date, there are posters up, we share posts everyday about his disappearance.

"We have had so much help looking for him, amazing strangers on social media, neighbour's in the street, people walking their dogs with Kobe's bed so their dogs can get the scent of him, we've had so much help from a volunteers search party called "Bindi's Lost & Found Pets too."

Following there being no sightings of Kobe Samantha said the possibility he has been stolen has entered their minds and they have reported him missing to police.

She added: "I have three children at home who are crying themselves to sleep asking if Kobe is coming back or is he in heaven, it's unbearable, we just want him back, we need to know he's ok, we need our baby back he's our family."
