Kids can go on a Christmas boat trip at Santa's grotto in West Lothian

Santa will set sail on the the Union Canal this Christmas for a unique family experience in West Lothian.

Father Christmas will be arriving by boat at the Linlithgow canal basin at 2pm on certain dates in December.

Children can then visit Santa's grotto, where they will get an age-appropriate gift before the whole family takes a boat ride on the canal.

The grotto will be open between 2pm and 4pm each day.

The Linlithgow Canal Centre says: "Each child who visits Santa will receive an age appropriate gift for £5 and the whole family can then go on a free boat trip.

"The tearoom will also be open and serving seasonal non-alcoholic hot punch and mince pies, along with the usual tea, coffee, soft drinks, etc."

The Christmas boat trips will be running on the weekends of December 14/ 15 and 21/22.

No booking is necessary but it's expected to be busy so you may want to arrive early.

The canal centre has more details here.
