Kids can go free at Lego event with giant dinosaur

A huge Lego exhibition featuring a giant dinosaur is offering free kids' tickets over February half term.

Nathan Sawaya's The Art of Brick features more than 90 pieces of art made from millions of Lego bricks and kids can go free with every full paying adult over the upcoming school holidays.

The exhibition by the New York-based artist showcases new conceptual pieces and replicas of iconic classical artwork which speak to all ages.

Sculptures include a huge dinosaur plus versions of Michelangelo's David and the Venus De Milo made entirely of Lego.

Sawaya was the first artist to ever take Lego into the art world. His unique sculptures and touring exhibition is the first exclusively using Lego as an art medium and has broken attendance records around the globe.

Speaking about the exhibition, Sawaya said: "I like using Lego bricks as a medium because I enjoy seeing people's reaction to artwork created from something with which they are familiar.

"My goal is to elevate this simple plaything to a place it has never been before. I also appreciate the cleanliness of the Lego brick. The right angles. The distinct lines. But, from a distance, those right angles and distinct lines offer new perspectives, changing to curves."

As well as the artwork, there is also an interactive playzone with huge pits of Lego for the kids to play in and make their own Lego creations.

You can book one free child's ticket with every paying adult ticket (£14.50) and the offer is running from Monday, February 10 to Sunday, February 23.

You can visit the exhibition at Unit 5, Great Northern Warehouse, Peter Street, Manchester M2 4EJ.
