Kids can build their own adventure playground at 'Tinkertown' in Musselburgh

Musselburgh will soon see an adventure playground like no other, as kids get the chance to build their own play area from timber.

Children will be handed wood, hammers nails and saws and allowed to create an imaginative village called Tinkertown.

The free event is being hosted by Wallyford Community Centre on September 28.

Kids will have to be accompanied by an adult but they will be given the time and space they need to create whatever they want.

At the end of the day there will be a bonfire with marshmallows.

The East Lothian Play Association say: "Tinkertown is an inspiring place, a scrap timber village built by children for children (and their adults).

"Developed in the spirit of authentic adventure playgrounds, at Tinkertown children are provided with pallets, tools, time and support to build their own spaces.

"We will create a quieter area in the field for anyone who need this and a break out space in the community centre. Ear defenders will be available for everyone and a range of tools to suit different needs.

"We will have sensory items, like fabric, bubbles and chimes. At the end of the day, we will celebrate with a fire and marshmallows."

The event starts at 11am on Saturday, September 28 and is free to drop in at any time.
