Kidnapped French millionaire Jacqueline Veyrac 'found tied up in car boot'

A French millionaire has been found alive in a car boot after being kidnapped 48 hours earlier.

Jaqueline Veyrac, 76, was kidnapped in front of onlookers on Monday afternoon near her home in Nice on the French Riviera.

She was seen being forced from her black 4x4 into another car by an "organised gang", stated prosecutor Jean-Michel Pretre.

Ms Veyrac is president of the board of the five-star Grand Hotel of Cannes on the French Riviera.

Sophie Jonquet, lawyer for Ms Veyrac’s children, said she is “apparently in good health”. This is “a great relief” to the family, Ms Jonquet told BFM television.

According to The Local, the businesswoman was able to escape the abandoned vehicle and seek help from her neighbours.

Ms Veyrac was the target of an attempted kidnapping three years ago outside her garage.
