Kidnapped Austrian girl pleads for media restraint

I meant to mention a piece in yesterday's The Observer in which the kidnapped Austrian teenager, Natascha Kampusch asked, through her lawyer, for her privacy to be respected and objected to having been portrayed as a victim. I'm reminded by an AFP article in which Kampusch adds to her statement, this time through her psychiatrist. She says she never referred to her abductor, Wolfgang Priklopil, as "master" as reported in the press. She also appealed to the media to "give her time", and warned the press against slandering her. She has reportedly been offered large sums to appear on TV and to write a book. (Via Agence France Presse)
