Court records have revealed calls and puzzling texts between murdered Philadelphia woman Kada Scott and Keon King, the man now accused of killing her.
According to the probable cause affidavit viewed by several news outlets, Scott and a phone number linked to King exchanged messages from September 28 through October 4, the night Scott disappeared. Those close to Scott said she told them she was being harassed on the phone before she was reported missing from her job at a senior care facility. Scott was 23 years old when she died.
Court documents also quote a text Scott allegedly sent on October 4 at around 10:00 a.m.: “kidnap me again.” The number tied to King responded, “better be up too,” and the pair made plans to meet that night, the records say. The final text in the exchange was “cm when u here” (call me when you’re here).
According to Fox 29 Philadelphia, investigators also say Scott received a dozen calls between about 9:30 p.m. that night and 10:12 p.m. Scott’s phone went dark at about 10:30 p.m.

After Scott’s missing persons report, searchers found her remains on October 18 in a shallow grave behind the vacant Ada Lewis Middle School, a few miles away from where she was seen. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled her death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the head, according to officials.
Police recovered surveillance video showing at least two people moving what could be a body near the area where Scott was found; DNA testing confirmed the remains were Scott’s. Authorities say they tracked King’s phone to where Scott’s remains were recovered.
In addition to murder, King is now charged with robbery, theft, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and other offenses tied to the case, including arson. On October 7, investigators found the car Scott left her workplace in, a stolen Hyundai Accent, burned.
Before the Scott case, King, 21, faced charges in a separate January 2025 incident involving a different woman, including kidnapping and assault while his 2-year-old child sat in the backseat. Those charges were withdrawn when the victim failed to appear in court.
Police arrested King on October 15, and he is currently being held without bail. The Philadelphia District Attorney continues to review evidence and has indicated more charges could follow as the probe, including leads on additional suspects, proceeds.
