Kidnap charge dropped in bus stop incident

Charges of attempted kidnap and child stealing have been dropped against Tyrone Abella. (AAP)

Charges have been dropped against a man who was accused of trying to kidnap a teen girl.

Tyrone Abella, 20, was charged earlier this month with offences including attempted kidnapping and attempted child stealing over allegations he tried to take a teenage girl from a bus stop.

Victoria Police formally withdrew four charges in Melbourne Magistrates Court this week.

Officers also dropped an assault charge and a driving charge.

He still faces two charges of unlawful assault plus drug and weapon offences.

It's alleged he stole a rental car and drove carelessly in Edithvale and Carrum Downs, where he was arrested.

He's due back in court on October 27.
