Kick off 2023 with the Crossmichael Dee Dip on New Year's Day

The chilly waters of Loch Ken are waiting to welcome revellers on New Year’s Day.

The Dee Dip will take place at 11am on Sunday, with everyone looking to get 2023 off to a fresh, bracing start invited to come along.

Although it appears the water at Crossmichael Marina won’t be as cold as usual.

Organiser Jim McLelland said: “We were in on Christmas Day and it was almost tropical, it was five degrees!

“A few weeks ago the ice was so thick we couldn’t really break it.

The New Year’s Day tradition has been running for more than 30 years and even took place in 2021 despite Covid restrictions.

Everyone is welcome to take part, with many of those joining in the fun also raising money for charity in the process.
