Kibbutz Be’Eri Community Urges Israeli Government To Free Hostages

Special Kabbalat Shabbat ceremony for Israeli hostages taken by Hamas

The community of Kibbutz Be’eri in southern Israel, which was attacked on October 7, has made a heartfelt plea to the Israeli government for the release of hostages still held in Gaza. The kibbutz commemorated the Passover Seder at what is now known as Hostage Square in Tel Aviv, a solemn event to honor the memory of the 100 members and friends lost during the tragic attack.

During the ceremony, Kibbutz Be’eri member Noam Yitzhaki expressed the community's anguish over the loss of children and youth, emphasizing the deep void left in their hearts. Yitzhaki revealed that some kibbutz members were still being held captive by Hamas and urged decision-makers to take all necessary actions to secure their freedom. He stressed that this call was not driven by politics or strategy but by a moral imperative that demanded immediate attention.

Yitzhaki emphasized that the community's healing and rebuilding efforts hinged on the safe return of the hostages, underscoring the critical importance of their release. The emotional plea was echoed by Dorit Or, the mother of hostage Dror Or, who reiterated the community's unwavering commitment to raising awareness about the plight of those still held in Gaza.

Or emphasized the fundamental right of every individual to live a life free from captivity, surrounded by loved ones and the support of their communities. The community's resolve to continue advocating for the release of the hostages was palpable, as they sought to ensure that the memory of the tragic events would not fade and that future generations would be informed about the sacrifices made.
