Kian Musgrove to fly to New York for tests to make sure aggressive cancer hasn't returned

Little fighter Kian Musgrove is on his way to America for tests to make sure he is still free from cancer.

The seven-year-old, of Prudhoe, who was diagnosed with aggressive neuroblastoma at the age of 18 months, has bravely fought the disease for years. He even battled through a relapse in 2015.

His family had to raise thousands of pounds for pioneering treatment in America, which finished in January 2018. The youngster has not shown signs of cancer since then.

However, he is flying to New York again on Monday morning for another set of tests which will reveal if he is still cancer free.

His mum Kat, 31, said: "I'm petrified. I know that even if Kian seems to be doing amazingly well, the cancer could still come back.

"This has happened before. He had a relapse in 2015. At that time, he looked well and everything seemed fine. But it turned out that the cancer had returned.

"Now, all those same emotions are coming back.

"Kian is looking amazing and he's doing really well. He is happy, jumping and bouncing around. But it's always in the back of my mind that the cancer has a high chance of returning. If it's happened before, it could happen again. The same worries are coming back."

Kian will have a number of routine tests and scans in the coming days and his family are keeping their fingers crossed for good news.

They are also continuing to fundraise as the trip will cost thousands of pounds.

"The cost is running into thousands," said Kat. "We have to pay for the flights, accommodation and the tests themselves.

"One of the scans alone costs over $10,000. All the bills mount up.

"At the moment I'm just thinking about Kian and we are praying that all his tests go well."
