Kia Joorabchian has handed Tottenham a lifeline over a potential move for Philippe Coutinho this summer.
Coutinho is out of favour at Barcelona and has spent this season on loan at German champions Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga outfit do have an option to make the loan move a permanent one in the summer, but reports have suggested that is highly unlikely.
And that would leave the Brazilian midfielder in limbo, with reports in Spain saying that Coutinoh would not be welcomed back by the Catalans and that they would be looking to offload him permanently this summer.
The diminutive playmaker has been linked with a move back to the Premier League - where he made his name with Liverpool - with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all linked with a move for him.
Tottenham came close to tying up a deal for the 27-year-old last summer, but a deal could not be completed, with Coutinho eventually signing on loan for Bayern.
Reports emerged saying that the deal fell through because Spurs chairman Daniel Levy changed the financial package at the last moment, but football.london understands that is false.
And Coutinho's agent Joorabchian has come out to support the claims that they were false and at the same time offered Spurs hope of a future deal for his client.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Joorabchian said: "Philippe Coutinho has no personal issue with Daniel Levy and claims otherwise are totally false. The deal did not collapse due to financial reasons."
