Kia Joorabchian keen for Philippe Coutinho to join Arsenal this summer

Philippe Coutinho's agent Kia Joorabchian is looking to manufacture a move that will see the Brazilian join Arsenal on loan this summer.

Plenty needs to fall into place for the Barcelona flop to end up at the Emirates, but the move is not out of the question.

Coutinho has spent the last year out on loan at Bayern Munich following an unhappy 18 months at the Nou Camp.

The Catalans spent a mammoth £142m to sign the player from Liverpool, but he has struggled to match expectations.

Nevertheless, he remains a player of immense quality and would certainly benefit the Gunners if they can get him back to his best.

Coutinho has already shown he can cut it in the Premier League following a successful five years at Anfield.

But Mirror Sport understands that if a deal does occur it will require Barcelona to subsidise part of his contract.

Arsenal are set for another year without Champions League football and could yet miss out on the Europa League too, further hitting their revenue stream.

Mikel Arteta has a serious rebuild job on his hands but would no doubt welcome a player of Coutinho's quality if the club could secure his signature.

Back in May Joorabchian said that "no decision has yet been made regarding his future.

"As I have said many times in uncertain times like this, we are not currently talking about any transfers or future plans and have not discussed them yet."

Bayern have said that they will not be taking up the option to sign Coutinho permanently.

The 28-year-old looks most likely to either battle for his place in Spain or return to the Premier League where there is interest in him.
