Ki-Jana Hoever facing Liverpool absence after World Cup call-up

Liverpool will be without Ki-Jana Hoever for several weeks after the youngster earned a World Cup call-up with Holland.

Hoever has been named in the 21-man party by his country for the forthcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

The tournament, which is being held in Brazil, takes place between October 26 and November 17.

Holland face Japan in their group opener on October 28 before taking on Senegal two days later and the United States on November 3.

It means Hoever will not be available for the League Cup fourth round tie at home to Arsenal on October 30, having scored on his first Liverpool start in the previous round's 2-0 win at MK Dons.

The 17-year-old will also miss Liverpool's UEFA Youth League double header with Genk.

Five things about Ki-Jana Hoever

Defending champions England, for whom Rhian Brewster was top scorer in the 2017 tournament, failed to qualify after being eliminated in the group stages of this year's UEFA European U17 Championships in the Republic of Ireland.
