Khloé Kardashian 'very nervous' about lack of control in trying surrogacy

Khloé Kardashian has opened up about what it was like being told she would have a "high-risk pregnancy" if she were to attempt a natural conception for her second child.

Having seen surrogacy work out well, with sister Kim Kardashian using the method for her children Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2, Khloé explored this as an option.

During Thursday's episode of the hit reality series, the 36-year-old star opened up about the embryos she had made from herself and boyfriend Tristan Thompson, who she shares daughter True, 3, with.

Speaking on the show, the socialite said: "A few months ago, Tristan and I made embryos, and during that time I was also told that I would not be smart if I carried my second pregnancy, I would be high risk and to explore surrogacy options, so Tristan and I have decided that's what we're going to do.

"I have a surrogate agent who is, you know, sort of filtering through who they think might be the best fit for me and my family."

Her basketball player boyfriend also said: "It is a big commitment and you want to find the right fit, but we got this new chapter, we've got this together, we're a team."

Meeting with a surrogate therapist over Zoom, the pair were to be "evaluated" for the procedure with the some serious questions to make sure the pair would "completely understand" every aspect involved with surrogacy.

Tristan beamed about the moral support he was ready to provide, describing himself as "two feet in".

One difficult question came up about multiple pregnancies during the meeting.

The therapist asked: "What are your beliefs about fetal reduction or termination of pregnancy due to multiple pregnancies? Say, the embryo splitting and the surrogate was carrying twins suddenly."

Khloé saw it as a blessing in that event, saying: "If we're blessed to have multiples we think that's in God's will, so we're on board with that."

It was when the surrogate's wishes came into play that the couple began doubting if surrogacy is the route for them.

"And what if your surrogate wasn't on board with that?" the therapist asked.

This confused the Kardashian star, who said: "But don't they have to kind of go with what our wishes are?"

"Well, it's your baby but it's her body so she could terminate the pregnancy with any unplanned outcome," he went on.

"Oh," Khloé admitted, while Tristan confessed that they hadn't thought about how changes to the plan would affect the surrogate.

He said: "We never thought about that. … That'd be something that we have to discuss."

In a confessional, Khloé revealed that the thought of not having control over whether her hypothetical twin would be carried to full term made her "very nervous".

She said: "I'm definitely getting freaked out I think as the questions go by just because I, of course, I know it's her body, my baby, but I really did not put two and two together that that means she has the control whether she would want to, you know, terminate the twin.

"Me not having control over that outcome, makes me very nervous.

"I mean, I know it's her body but I still didn't know it was really her choice and that might be really naive to say but I mean this is a big eye opener.

"I'm definitely second-guessing a couple things. It's just a little intense this whole Zoom call."
