So, once more, to the eternal chicken-and-the-egg question that is the Kardashian Kausality Dilemma.
Barely three weeks ago, we made like ancient philosophers and pondered the impenetrably self-perpetuating nature of the Kardashian story. The tale must constantly regenerate itself. So who else could Kim be married to but the rapper who would turn out to be pondering a run for US president in 2020? Who else could this family be co-parented by but the person who would turn out to be Caitlyn Jenner? Things had been a bit quiet on the Khloe storyline front of late – so who else could she turn out to be still married to but the man who had just overdosed four days into his stay at a Nevada brothel?
A week is a long time in Kardashians, as show producer Ryan Seacrest once opined to Rab Butler, and three is an age. If you need a catch-up, Lamar is now said to be recovering well in hospital, with some reports suggesting he has banished Khloe from the hospital for using the whole business as a publicity tool. Did she? I couldn’t begin to unpick that one.
For what it’s worth, Khloe insists nothing could be further from the truth. Admittedly, she has just this moment released her new book, Strong Looks Better Naked. But contrary to unkind suggestions, this event has been long planned. And, like I say, when else could it have been scheduled for but two weeks after Lamar’s near-tragedy gave the family full-spectrum dominance of the showbiz headlines once more?
Honi soit qui mal y pense – and a furious Khloe has taken to Twitter to unleash an instant entry to the Kardashian annals of Kwotable Kwotes.
“I want to make this very clear,” she declares of reaction to a magazine cover shoot and interview in which she discusses her husband. “My People cover, I shot and interviewed for PRIOR to all the events that happened. It was contracted press for my book that I wrote months and months ago. Timing is what it is.”
Timing is what it is. If there’s a better answer to the Kardashian Kausality Dilemma, then you’d better page Aristotle or Stephen Hawking for it.
