Khloe Kardashian's ex Lamar Odom believes he was drugged on night of near-fatal overdose

Lamar Odom has said that he hadn't taken any illegal drugs on the night of his near-fatal overdose, and believes he was drugged by someone else.

The basketball player, who was previously married to Khloe Kardashian, has said "somebody just tried to take my life" on the night in 2015 when he was found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel.

He overdosed on what he later described as an "unholy concoction of cocaine, cognac and cannabis" in 2015.

When he was taken to hospital he suffered 12 seizures, six strokes and his heart stopped twice, with doctors telling his family and friends to prepare for his death.

He made a miraculous recovery, and six years on he has claimed that all wasn't as it seemed that night.

"I didn't take anything that night," he said during a Facebook live interview with Addiction Talk.

"I was really hurt and almost in some sense afraid because somebody just tried to take my life."

Lamar went on to share his belief that God spared him that night because he didn't voluntarily take any drugs.

He called the overdose his "rock bottom" and the catalyst for seeking sobriety.

Lamar also said in the interview that cocaine became his "crutch" after the tragic death of his baby from Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in 2006.

He said: "When my son passed away at six months in 2006 I kind of used cocaine for a crutch instead of my family and my children.

"And I paid the price, short-term price."

Lamar also said that he didn't realise his addiction was becoming "too much" until it started to interfere with his marriage to Khloe.

He realised "this is out of control."

The athlete recalled how one night he had taken drugs and Khloe and her family showed up to take him to rehab.

"[They did it] out of love," Lamar added.

Khloe and Lamar got married in 2009 just one month after they met.

She filed for divorce in December 2013 after months of a rumoured separation, but she withdrew the divorce petition in October 2015 when Lamar suffered his overdose.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has said she made the decision not so they could reunite, but instead so she could make medical decisions on his behalf as he lay in a coma for four days.

The pair finally officially split in December 2016 when their divorce was finalised.
