Khari Willis making it impossible for Colts to keep him off the field

The Indianapolis Colts knew exactly what they were doing when they traded two picks in order to move up and draft former Michigan State captain Khari Willis. The safety was a tackling machine at MSU and it was always bizarre to me that he wasn’t higher on the radar of NFL teams in the draft. Recent injuries to Malik Hooker and Clayton Geathers has spiked Khari’s playing time with the Colts and his production in that role is making it difficult to take him off the field.

“Yeah, Khari has done a great job with his playmaking ability. He knows where he fits into the defense,” said defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus on Tuesday. “He’s really intelligent and he’s functioning well. Guys that do that – Khari or whoever that may be – are going to increase their playing time and continue to play.”

Willis is making plays all over the field and looking like a veteran in the league. No surprise to the Michigan State faithful.
