Khalil Mack ‘running out of time’ to win Super Bowl, Bears need to ‘win now’

No matter the player, no matter the team, winning a Super Bowl is no guarantee.

It’s not always the most talented team that wins. Winning a Super Bowl is a combination of a few things, among them luck, talent and a solid front office.

While Chicago Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack is far from the end of his career, he spoke with a sense of urgency when discussing the ticking clock that comes with winning a Super Bowl.

“You’re running out of time, man,” Mack said, recalling conversations he’s had with former Raiders teammates Charles Woodson and Justin Tuck. “All these older dudes let us know at an early point in my career, man, we ain’t got no time to waste.”

Mack is entering his sixth season and at 28-years old, he’s only made two playoff appearances, once with both the Bears and Raiders. And while he’s in the prime of his career, he still feels the pressure to win while he still has the opportunity to do so.

“You’ve gotta win,” Mack added. “Gotta win now.”

Mack is in the best position to win a Super Bowl than he’s been perhaps in his entire career. The Bears are in the peak of their Super Bowl window, with QB Mitch Trubisky still on his rookie deal and with a team with the talent to win now.

And with a generational talent like Mack leading the way, the opportunity is the Bears’ for the taking.
