Khabib Nurmagomedov's trainer Javier Mendez admits the Russian star will only return to the UFC if his mother gives him the green light.
The 32-year-old walked away from the Octagon last year following his victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October.
It saw him finish his UFC career with a perfect 29-0 record but there have been rumours of a return.
Dana White has made attempts to lure Khabib back to the Octagon with fights against the likes of Conor McGregor touted.
Mendez has confessed that Khabib does miss the thrill of training for a fight, but is adamant a return will only occur following discussions with his mother.
He told Betway Insider: "You know, when we went to the last fight and his cousin Abubakar was to fight, he just got all energised, and he said, 'I miss this feeling.'
"And it's a feeling that he's gonna miss for a while because of that adrenaline you get from entering that Octagon with all those people cheering you on. It's hard to replace that in normal life because normal life is not like that.
"What I do know is his mother's bond and his mother's wishes are extremely important to him, and if he did ever decide, it would have to be his mother and him talking, and his mother would have to give him her blessing.
"Even if he wanted to fight, it's never gonna happen. He will not disobey his mother; he will not. That's just who he is.
"I can say this comfortably, that after two years out of the Octagon, there will definitely be no comeback.
"I'd definitely say that when he's past his prime, definitely not because he's not going to compete when he's not able to compete.
"But I can honestly say that if he's still in his prime, there's always the possibility that he and his mother could talk. I can say that."
Khabib vowed to remain retired after his father and mentor Abdulmanap died last year.
He has since reiterated that stance telling reporters in Russia last week that he has "no desire to come back, and I don't think I ever will"
The MMA legend also spoke recently about the toll his fights take on his mother.

“It’s very hard when you have power, when you’re the best in the world, when you’re famous, have money and say to everything like this, ‘No.'," he said.
"It’s very hard. People maybe will never understand me, but I really hope they’re going to support my decision because everyone has their views.
“My view and my relationship with my mother, I feel like I have to stop because I feel like in every fight, every training camp, this takes some age away from my mother."
