Khabib Nurmagomedov wants superfight with retiring legend Georges St-Pierre

One of the UFC’s greatest champions is set to walk away from the sport on Thursday. Georges St-Pierre, who made his first UFC appearance in 2004 and went on to dominate the welterweight division for nearly a decade, will announce his retirement on Thursday, according to Canadian outlet RDS. St-Pierre, now 37, last entered the cage at UFC 217, where he submitted Michael Bisping to win the UFC middleweight championship. He later vacated the title, and revealed that he had been suffering from ulcerative colitis.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported that St-Pierre was interested in fighting current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Shortly after news of St-Pierre’s impending retirement broke, Nurmagomedov publicly challenged St-Pierre to a fight in November at a location of his choice.

“Let’s do it in November.

After this fight you can retire. I grow up on your fights, and have nothing but respect for you, and I believe showed that to you George when you were in Moscow.

But, it would be honor for me to share Octagon with one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Let’s do it 155 lbs, or I give away 5lbs to you, cause you newer done 155.

Well, it’s your choice 155 or 160, Montreal, NYC, Moscow or Abu Dhabi.

Send me location my Friend”

According to St-Pierre, it’s not up to him whether or not the fight happens.
