Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin Usman has been detained by police in Moscow after allegedly hitting a police officer with his car before fleeing.
The 23-year-old is undefeated after 14 mixed martial arts bouts and is currently plying his trade under the Bellator banner.
He was in fighting action last month when he defeated Patrik Pietilä with a first round submission to hand him a third consecutive victory at Bellator 269.
But a police report has alleged Nurmagomedov hit a police officer while in his car with fellow fighter Kamal Idrisov at Makhachkala airport in Russia.
The pair were reportedly on their way to Kaspiysk airport but were involved in the alleged altercation at a police checkpoint.
Local media reports that shortly after they flew from Makhachkala airport to Sheremetyevo where they were taken into custody by the Russian police.

A police statement read: “The Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kaspiysk is looking for Kamal Khabibovich Idrisov, 10/29/1998, and Osman Magomednabievich Nurmagomedov, 04/17/1998, who hit a police officer at the Airport checkpoint in a Toyota Camry.
"The abovementioned persons flew to the Sheremetyevo airport - the source of RIA Novosti quoted a police orientation.
“They are suspected of having run over a police officer at the Airport checkpoint by car.
"Citizens were taken to the duty unit of the line unit. The issue of detention and placement in a temporary detention facility is being resolved."
Nurmagomedov has launched a successful career in MMA and is being launched into the spotlight as another talented star from the bloodline of retired champion Khabib.
And his first 11 career victories led to his signature with Bellator in October last year where he has since added another three successes against limited opposition.
Idrisov is also an MMA fighter who has been inactive since 2017 where he was defeated by Zalkarbek Orunbaev as part of a Russian young talent competition.
Usman's cousin Khabib made a sensational impact in the UFC defeating the likes of Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje during a 29-fight undefeated professional MMA career.
He retired last year with his victory Gaethje on 'Fight Island', signalling the end of his dominance, and many labelled him shortly after as one of the greatest UFC athletes of all time.
And Khabib has now launched a coaching career in the sport featuring prominently in the corner of rising lightweight contender Islam Makhachev who is ranked at No.5 in the division.
And the 23-year-old Bellator star has previously backed his cousin to become an even better coach as their relationship continues to blossom.
"We’re friends in camp," Nurmagomedov said. "There is no goal for us to compete with each other on that level.
"We’re friends and we just do what we do. I don’t have a personal goal of overcoming and beating Khabib’s record.
"The goal to me is to stay undefeated. At the end of the day, I’ll always be known as Khabib’s (cousin), if you know what I mean.
“I believe that Khabib can definitely take that spot (as one of the best coaches ever), whatever he’s putting his mind to, usually and normally, he achieves that.
"In this case, I definitely believe that he would be a better coach than he is a fighter.”
