Khabib Nurmagomedov trolls Conor McGregor over retirement - 'There can only be one king of the jungle'

Khabib Nurmagomedov has responded to the news of Conor McGregor's shock retirement with the message: "There can only be one king of the jungle."

McGregor announced his decision to quit mixed martial arts on Tuesday morning, writing on Twitter: "I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition.

"I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!"

He leaves MMA with a with a record of 21-4, with that last defeat coming at the hands of Nurmagomedov, who defeated the Dubliner in the fourth round via submission at UFC 229 in October to take his lightweight title.

In the aftermath, a mass brawl between the fighters and their respective backroom teams erupted inside and outside the octagon with tensions remaining high between the two ever since.

In response to Tuesday's news, Nurmagomedov posted his message alongside a grinning picture of himself with a single finger raised, sat alongside the same world title he took from McGregor last year.
