Khabib Nurmagomedov claims Conor McGregor begged him not to kill him in fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov reckons that bitter rival Conor McGregor doesn't deserve a rematch - citing one simple reason to rule out a blockbuster fight.

McGregor was submitted in the third round of their UFC 229 showdown back in October, prompting an ugly post-fight brawl that seen the pair handed hefty suspensions, and as the war of words has continued, Khabib has moved on and is returning to the octagon on September 7 as he fights Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi.

And at a pre-fight press conference today, the Russian dismissed any talk of a rematch - claiming that McGregor doesn't deserve one after begging him not to kill him during the fight.

The undefeated Dagestani also noted that McGregor's last UFC victory was in 2016, McGregor has since lost to Floyd Mayweather in boxing match and the Russian upon his UFC return in 2018.

Khabib said: "The last three years, he (McGregor) only had one victory - in amateur boxing. How does he deserve a rematch?

"He tapped, he begged me and said 'please don't kill me' and now he talks about a rematch.

"Tony Ferguson is on the line, people who have win streaks on the line, but not the guy who hasn't won nothing in the last three years."

The 27-0 grappler also hopes to fight again in December this year, and wants the UFC to host a show in his native Russian if he retains his lightweight belt against Poirier.
