KFC wants to build in these five new locations across the Bristol area

KFC has announced a hit list of new sites it wants to target in a mission to bring Colonel Sanders' special recipe chicken to more diners than ever before.

The fast food giant has listed 500 possible sites where bosses are hoping to open either drive-thru venues or full restaurants.

Among the long list of locations, Avonmouth, Eastgate, Clevedon, Longwell Green and Yate appear.

A spokesman for the company said: "We have bold ambitions to have over 1,000 stores in the UK and Ireland by 2020 and we are looking to build over 50 new stores a year."

Currently residents in Yate have to drive to Bradley Stoke for their nearest KFC, there's another two in Cribbs Causeway and one based on the A432 which has good links to the town.

Which areas are on the KFC target list?

Drive-thru restaurant in Avonmouth.

Eastgate already has a KFC but officials have still named this location as a possible site for a new drive-thru option.

Clevedon was also named as a site for drive-thru.

Residents living in Longwell Green currently have to travel to Keynsham for their nearest chicken fix.

And the people of Yate might not have to travel so far to get their hands on a tub of chicken if a suitable site is found.
