KFC to reopen 200 restaurants - with 350 open for takeaways

Fast-food giant KFC has announced it is reopening a further 200 restaurants - meaning there are now 700 up and running.

But it has warned that things will look somewhat different.

In a message posted on Twitter, the company said half of the stores back open are operating as takeaways, while the rest are drive-through or delivery-only.

It comes after it was forced to shut all its outlets because of the coronavirus lockdown.

In the statement, KFC said: "Today, we've reached the milestone of 700 restaurants reopened across the UK and Ireland.

"Just like you with your terrible barnet, the restaurants will look a little different to how they did before.

"You'll notice we've made a few changes to ensure we're offering takeaway in a way that's as responsible as it is convenient.

"These include protective screens, gloves and face masks for our teams as required and social distancing guidance clearly marked on the floor.

"There may also be specific limits on the number of people who can be in the restaurant at any time."

The message continued: "We know it's all pretty different from normal, but thank you for understanding and for helping our teams by following the new measures."

One delighted fan posted in response: "We had it last week and nearly cried..."
