KFC has announced that its first ever vegan burger will officially launch across the country by the end of the week.
During the summer, the burger made from Quorn, rather than chicken, was trialled in restaurants in London, Bristol and the Midlands and demand was so high that it sold out in just four days.
Recognising the appetite for the burger which comprises Quorn fillet, coated in the Colonel’s Original Recipe herbs and spice and served with lettuce and vegan mayo, KFC is bringing it back to its menu for good, with the vegan burger available nationwide from Thursday, January 2.
Ira Dubinsky, Innovation Director at KFC UK and Ireland said: “The Colonel was all about welcoming everyone to his table – now vegans, flexitarians and our fried chicken fans can all enjoy the taste of our Original Recipe together.
We’ve worked hard to perfect the flavour and make a Vegan Burger the Colonel would be proud of. It’s the flavour of KFC, just with zero chicken.”
The social media reaction to the KFC 'Zero Chicken' vegan burger being launched out across the country has already been huge. Some one tweeted "can’t wait for the vegan kfc burger to be rolled out," and another excited KFC diner responded "Love all the bad for me food having vegan options. I love salads and veg but I sometimes need a dirty burger."
A third person tweeted KFC to say "Thank you @KFC_UKI , the vegan burger going national in January is awesome news!" and another joked "I don't care who makes the burger! If it's #vegan I'll eat it!"
