Staff at a branch of KFC are serving chicken from behind security wiring to protect themselves from violent attacks.
The fast food restaurant in Chelmsley Wood in Solihull introduced the new security measures to stop intruders getting behind the counter.
Employees are now safeguarded by rows of metal bolted from the counter to the ceiling, with gaps just wide enough to serve a family chicken bucket.
The new measures were introduced after an incident involving a worker being attacked, Birmingham Live reported.
A girl leapt over the counter and struck a staff member in the kitchen.
A KFC spokeswoman said: "Something happened a few months ago. It's for our safety, a few months ago a girl jumped over and hit one of the staff members.
"So they just put it up for safety. It was put up in August."
It comes after several fast-food restaurants across the Midlands moved to protect staff and customers in recent years.
In 2018, McDonald's and KFC branches in Walsall town centre put bouncers on the door.
Following the decision, a McDonald's spokesman said: "Unfortunately the area around our restaurant has experienced some anti-social issues and this action has been taken in consultation with the local police in order to safeguard our customers and crew."
