KFC's awkward response to Iceland's in-store alternative leaves fans in hysterics

KFC has tweeted a savage response to Iceland's fakeaway range.

The affordable supermarket posted a money-saving deal on social media promoting its popular skin-on French fries, southern fried chicken strips, popcorn chicken alternative and chicken thighs. As well as a drink, sweetcorn and gravy.

Encouraging people to pick up the fakeaway during their essential shop, Iceland wrote: "Missing KFC? We've got the answer. Great value alternatives to your takeaway favourites instore and iceland.co.uk."

It comes as many families across the nation attempt to recreate their favourite takeaways at home amid the coronavirus, reports Birmingham Live.

KFC, McDonald's, Greggs and even Ikea have shared recipes on how to make their iconic products.

When it came to Iceland’s alternative, however, KFC didn’t seem too impressed.

Posting on social media KFC shared the post and cheekily wrote: "This is why my mum goes to Tesco."

The savage response was met with acclaim from followers, with 1.6k retweets and over 14,000 like at the time of writing.

Responding to the comment, Kiss FM UK wrote: "The shade."

And while some thought the tweet was hilarious, others raved about the supermarket's options.

Commenting, one wrote: "I do fake KFC at home all the time with Iceland stuff tho.. the skin on fries are soooo good with their hot and spicy chicken strips and crispy chicken fillet finished off with southern style bisto gravy."
