KFC restaurant extension plans for Ayrshire town are approved

Proposals to extend an Ayrshire KFC have been given the go ahead by council planners.

The transformation of Kilmarnock's fried chicken restaurant can now get underway after blueprints were rubber stamped by officials with one condition.

The Queen's Drive fast food joint can now build a new dry store and toilets after East Ayrshire Council planners saw no major issues with proposals.

The extension will be at the south-west side of the building where the drive-thru menu currently resides.

The layout of the drive thru itself will also change with the new lane hugging the perimeter of the site to allow for more cars to queue at the takeaway.

Ayrshire Roads Alliance did highlight one issue with the length of proposed parking bays.

But instead of the proposed 4.8m, KFC will have to make the bays 5m to meet the application conditions.

The building itself looks set for a complete makeover with new branding and advertising approved by council chiefs.

It is not yet known when KFC will go ahead with the dramatic makeover of the popular eaterie.

KFC have been contacted for comment but had not responded as we published this story.
