KFC is working on a new hot cross bun burger for Easter

They might not quite match the excitement of chocolate, but there's no denying hot cross buns are one of the highlights of Easter.

The holiday simply wouldn't be the same without devouring at least a few of the delicious spiced sweet buns - but would you eat a hot cross bun burger ?

This is what KFC is proposing to introduce to its menu - perhaps bravely.

The burger, described as the "perfectly sweet and savoury treat" by the fast food chain, sees the succulent chicken KFC has grown so popular for encased in a current-filled bun.

A KFC spokesperson said: "Forget hunting for those hidden chocolate eggs. This year, we have created a sweet treat that’s too good to hide - the KFC Hot Cross Bun Burger - as this Easter we’re all about the buns, hun.

"The Classic Fillet Burger bun has been replaced with a traditional Hot Cross Bun, then stuffed with a succulent Original Recipe chicken breast fillet and served with fresh lettuce and mayo."

When new Marks and Spencer Food hall will open on Bristol's Whiteladies Road

The unusual meal is currently being "tested and trialled by KFC’s chief innovators" to make sure it's up to standard.

If it goes down well, KFC's Hot Cross Bun Burger could make its debut across the nation next year.
