KFC is bringing back its Vegan Burger to all UK stores for Veganuary

KFC is celebrating Veganuary by bringing back its Vegan Burger to UK stores for a limited time.

It is officially launching into 750 restaurants across the UK from 4 January, but will sadly only be around until 28 February.

The tasty meat-free alternative to the chain's classic chicken fillet burger, means Vegans, Vegetarians, or Flexitarians can get their KFC fix this January.

The award-winning burger is made from a bespoke Quorn fillet coated in the Colonel’s iconic Original Recipe herbs and spices. The burger is topped with fresh iceberg lettuce, creamy vegan mayo and housed in a soft glazed bun. It sounds (and looks) so tasty it might even tempt the most faithful meat-eaters out there...

The chicken-free snack, which features all of the famous Original Recipe 11 herbs and spices, will be priced from £3.99 for just the burger, or more as part of a meal deal.

It will be available at KFC restaurants, including takeaway, drive-thru and customers will also be able to use the KFC mobile ordering service to try it out.

The fast food chain originally launched its vegan burger back in 2019, in a surprise move.

Speaking about the launch at the time, Victoria Robertson, Chief Vegetable Enthusiast at KFC UK & Ireland said: “We know… it’s unfair. Vegans have been cruelly denied the incredible taste of KFC up to now, which is why we’ve worked hard to perfect The Imposter – a vegan burger that the Colonel would be proud of.”

Ira Dubinsky, Innovation Director at KFC UK and Ireland added: “The Colonel was all about welcoming everyone to his table – now vegans, flexitarians and our fried chicken fans can all enjoy the taste of our Original Recipe together.

We’ve worked hard to perfect the flavour and make a Vegan Burger the Colonel would be proud of. It’s the flavour of KFC, just with zero chicken.”

The initial launch saw the 'Imposter' burger rolled out to select stores in London, Bristol and the Midlands during a four week trial.

After wowing fans, and selling out in four days, KFC decided to roll out the burger to all UK stores. The burger then went on to become a permanent fixture in 73 stores across the country, including locations in Brighton, London, Manchester and Cardiff.
