KFC has added creamy mashed potato to its menu plus two other new sides

KFC is immensely popular for its delicious, juicy chicken and secret mix of spices.

But the fast food giant has faced criticism for its chips, which even after a revamp are still under fire.

So in an attempt to keep customers happy, KFC has added creamy mash potato to its menu, which is sure to be popular especially when teamed with the statement gravy.

For those that aren't keen on potatoes, there's two additional new sides, including a very un-fast food-esque "Southern Rice", as well as a garden salad for some token health.

Priced the same as all the rest of KFC's regular sides, a pot of the creamy potato goodness costs 99p for a regular portion or £1.69 for the large, MirrorOnline reports.

According to the KFC website, it's made from real potatoes and is also lower in calories than other carbs on the menu.

At 110 calories per portion, it also has 2.5g fat, 17.5g of carbs and 0.79g salt. Meanwhile, a portion of regular fries contains almost twice as many calories, at 250, along with 11g of fat, 30g of carbs and 0.5g of salt.

As for the new Southern Rice, KFC describes it as "mildly spicy colourful rice with veggies, providing a delicious lower calorie carb option".

Meanwhile, the salad doesn't actually sound too shabby, introduced on the website as "a fresh and crunchy garden salad with sweetcorn, tomatoes and buttermilk dressing, that also provides one of your 5 a day."
