KFC fans left 'physically sick' after finding out how its £1.29 gravy is made

Lovers of KFC have been left feeling ill after a show explained how the popular fast food chain makes its gravy.

Channel 4's hour-long documentary Inside KFC at Christmas gave the inside track on how the brand makes its iconic dipping sauce and also revealed the 'secret ingredient' contained inside it.

A worker explained that she makes it by adding two scoops of "crackling" to 3.5 litres of cold water.

But it turns out 'crackling' is, in fact, made up of leftovers from the bottom of the chicken fryer, the Manchester Evening News reports.

The show reveals that before the mix is put into a microwave, a magic ingredient is added, and it is so secretive that it does not even say what it is on the packet,.

Worker Anne declared: "I'm a great believer that if you wouldn't eat it yourself you shouldn't expect anyone else to eat it."

Social media posts revealed the gravy-making process made some people feeling queasy.

One viewer said on Twitter: "The way that KFC make their gravy has made me feel physically sick."

Another wrote: "Just watched #insidekfcatchristmas, I love KFC gravy, I knew how it was made, but watching that woman make it, made me feel sick!"

New KFC rules for its UK and Ireland restaurants

"Is anyone else watching the #KFC at Christmas documentary and have also just witnessed how they make the gravy and feel a bit sick looking at it," chimed in a third.

A fourth person said: "#insidekfc is anyone gonna eat that gravy after seeing how it’s made?? With all the left overs from the chicken fryers. I feel sick."

However, others admitted it gave them serious gravy cravings, with one tweeting: "Watching KFC at Christmas and suddenly I want to bath in their bloody gravy" another fan enthusing: "KFC gravy is absolute god tier.

"We have it on our family Christmas dinner, no joke."
