KFC announced new vegan chicken burger - and it sounds amazing

If there's one thing that no-one should ever have to miss out on, it's the finger-lickin'ly good taste of KFC's iconic Original Recipe .

Sadly it's something that vegans have had to go without.... until now.

The famous fast food giant has confirmed that they will soon be launching it's first ever vegan burger.

The fab creation is just like it's meat-filled counterpart but with a Quorn fillet substituted in for the chicken - and it's still coated in the Colonel's Original Recipe herbs and spices.

It's the first time KFC's spice mixture has been used on something that isn't chicken , according to The Mirror .

Dubbed the Imposter burger, KFC's new addition gets its name from the idea that it replicates the brand's classic Original Recipe burger, but without any animal products, with KFC calling it "triumph of deception".

Sadly, the game-changing new burger won't be as widely available as the rest of KFC's wares, with the fast food chain choosing to trial it at first for four weeks in selected restaurants in London, Bristol and the Midlands.

The vegan burger is the first KFC product that's not chicken to be coated in its famous spice (Derek Man)

As well as the new vegan OG, another new (but this time vegetarian) creation is also being trialled from 15th July in the same locations, called the Southern Fritter Stacker, which will come as either a burger, wrap or ricebox.

Victoria Robertson, Chief Vegetable Enthusiast at KFC UK & Ireland commented: "We know it's unfair. Vegans have been cruelly denied the incredible taste of KFC up to now, which is why we've worked hard to perfect The Imposter - a vegan burger that the Colonel would be proud of.

Tony Davison, Head of Global Foodservice & QSR at Quorn commented: "A vegan KFC ? We couldn't believe it either. But we've done it - working with KFC we've created a bespoke Quorn fillet that does the Colonel's recipe justice. We have no doubt that KFC fans are going to love the modern take on a finger lickin' favourite.

Dawn Carr, Director of Vegan Corporate Projects at PETA added: "We've been so excited to hear about this and play a part in KFC's journey to reaching this game-changing new vegan range.

"We're confident it will be a huge hit with the skyrocketing numbers of vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians around the UK. Clucking marvellous!"
