KFC and Starbucks drive-thrus at Glasgow Harbour given go ahead by planners

Planners have given the go ahead for KFC and Starbucks drive-thru units to be built by Glasgow Harbour.

The original application was made almost exactly two years ago in October 2018. Glasgow City Council granted planning permission, subject to conditions, last week.

The proposal was made for the site of derelict space near the banks of the Clyde and within walking distance of Partick and Thornwood, on Castlebank Street.

Both units are two-storey cafes with sit in and takeaway options and include access roads and parking facilities.

The planning application reads: “The proposed development will create a welcoming, safe and pleasant environment for people living in the surrounding area.

“At present, there is little activity on the streets that surround the site. This development will increase both footfall and lighting within the area, making streets busier and more well-lit for pedestrians.”
