Keynsham pub The Ship Inn closed after customer tests positive for coronavirus

A pub near Bristol has been forced to close – after one of its customers tested positive for Covid

The Ship Inn at Temple Street, Keynsham has put a message on its Facebook page urging anyone who was at the inn on Saturday night (September 5) to book themselves a test.

All staff at the pub are now being tested.

The pub is also undergoing a deep clean ahead of it re-opening.

Bosses at the pub said they would be contacting the Track and Trace system.

The customer affected is understood to be at the pub between 8pm and 11pm on Saturday night.

In the message on Facebook, entitled Covid Alert, pub bosses said: “We have just been informed by a customer who was at the pub on Saturday night 5/9/20 that they have tested positive for Covid.

“We will be closing the pub immediately as to hopefully reduced the spread.

“We will be having all staff tested and the whole premises will be professional sanitised for Monday.

“We have not heard anything from track and trace yet so will be contacting them today.

“Hopefully will be able to provide more information once we have spoke to the relevant authorities.

“We highly recommend anyone that was attendant at the ship inn on Saturday night should go be tested as well.

“Currently this is an isolated account and hopefully it was not spread more."
