Keylor Navas asks for Real Madrid transfer after being dumped by Zinedine Zidane

Keylor Navas is determined to leave Real Madrid before the close of the European transfer window.

The three-time Champions League winner is second choice to Thibaut Courtois again this term, after Zinedine Zidane made clear that the Belgian - whom he didn’t want to sign during his first spell - would be his No.1 this season.

Navas, 32, had hoped to push through a move earlier in the summer and even had a farewell Bernabeu appearance at the end of last term.

But he was short of offers after Los Blancos made clear that he would not be allowed to leave on a free transfer.

The Costa Rican had asked club chiefs to allow him to leave for free back in June.

However, the Spanish giants made clear that he would only be allowed to leave if their £18million valuation was met, as they sought to recover funds for their big-spending summer.

Now, two months down the line, and having sat on the bench in their La Liga opener against Celta Vigo, Navas is again pushing to depart and has asked to be allowed to exit.

Marca reports he has asked for Madrid to negotiate and allow him to leave for a less significant fee.

And Navas is eyeing a switch to Paris Saint-Germain, where Thomas Tuchel has run out of patience with Alphonse Areola.

The French stopper - who rotated with Gianluigi Buffon last season - was at fault for one of the goals in PSG’s shock 2-1 loss to Rennes over the weekend.

Tuchel refused to back Areola post-game when asked whether he could be replaced before the end of the transfer window.

“Will Alphonse come out? I cannot confirm it while the market is still open. Each player has to prove their quality, including Alphonse," Tuchel told RCM.

As such, his German coach is determined to bring in a new No.1 in the coming days, with Navas a more likely option than AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Navas has been who could be offered to the French club in Madrid's push for Neymar.
