Key Witness In Georgia Election Interference Case Testifies

Terrence Bradley, special prosecutor Nathan Wade's former law partner and onetime divorce attorney, testifies in court Feb. 27, 2024, in Atlanta. Text messages obtained by The Associated Press show th

Attorneys for Donald Trump and other defendants in the Georgia election interference case had high hopes for lawyer Terrence Bradley's testimony. Bradley had been in communication with a lawyer for one of the co-defendants, providing information and suggestions to support their effort to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. However, when Bradley took the stand to testify under oath, he initially cited attorney-client privilege and later claimed not to remember crucial details.

The lawyer for the co-defendant filed a motion seeking to remove Willis and another prosecutor from the case, alleging a romantic relationship between them before the prosecutor was hired. The motion also claimed financial improprieties related to trips and payments. Bradley had provided information to the lawyer leading up to the filing of the motion, but his testimony in court was less forthcoming.

Despite Bradley's lack of recall during the hearing, the judge is set to hear arguments on the motions to disqualify Willis and her office from the case. Willis and the other prosecutor have acknowledged their past relationship but maintain it did not influence the election interference case.

The case involves indictments against Trump and others for their actions related to the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. The details of the prosecutors' relationship have become a focal point, potentially overshadowing the original charges. The text exchanges between Bradley and the lawyer for the co-defendant reveal efforts to gather evidence and build a case against the prosecutors.

While Bradley's testimony may not have provided the expected support for the defense, the legal proceedings continue as the judge considers the motions in the high-profile election interference case.
