Key transfer update on defender linked with Nottingham Forest and Derby County - reports

Nottingham Forest have been handed a potential boost in their reported interest in Crewe Alexandra defender Perry Ng.

The Reds have this week been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old right-back, with Derby County, Birmingham City, Bristol City and Charlton Athletic also credited with an interest.

Now though fresh reports claim that one of those clubs appears to not have any real interest in the player.

Charlton’s interest in Ng has “not got any real substance”, according to a report from the South London Press.

Forest currently have Matty Cash as the club’s first-choice right-back, having been converted from a midfielder under manager Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds also have Carl Jenkinson and Tendayi Darikwa who can play in the same position as Ng.

At the end of 2014, Ng won his first professional contract at Crewe, but he would get his first regular taste of first-team football at Hyde United.

He spent time on loan with Hyde, making 12 appearances and scoring once.

Ng has played almost 150 league games for Crewe, having graduated from their youth system.
