Key road near Bristol closed after 'medical incident'

Police and ambulance crews have rushed to to a "medical incident" on a North Somerset route.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Belmont Hill in Wraxall shortly after 10.30am today (April 26).

The scene was located just off the B3031 Bristol Road, a road which connects Bristol to Nailsea.

A road closure was reported in the surrounding area, with ambulances and police officers on the scene.

Images from the area show emergency services vehicles in attendance at the bottom of Belmont Hill.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed officers had been summoned in an assisting capacity to help South West Ambulance Service with what was described as a "medical incident".

The force also confirmed officers left the scene and returned to their regular patrols at around 11am.

The statement said: "We were called just before 10.40am this morning (Mon 26 Apr) to Belmont Hill in Wraxall, to support the ambulance service with a medical incident they were dealing with.

"Officers attended but resumed patrols at 11am."

South Western Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
