Crystal Palace's pursuit of Nuno Espirito Santo has come to an end with apparent concerns over the manager's demands from the club.
Palace officials pulled out of talks on Tuesday evening after the Portuguese manager is understood to have made a series of demands, with the club deciding against the move.
The Telegraph state that the budget for Nuno's backroom staff was one of the main sticking points in the negotiations, and ultimately why Palace have walked away.
Though not officially reported at the time of his exit from Wolves, Nuno's backroom staff have left Molineux, with the club today appointing his replacement Bruno Lage.
The staff are understood to be very highly-rated and would have been fully expecting to join Nuno at Selhurst Park.
However, there are apparent concerns over the cost of the arrivals, despite Palace's willingness to get a deal agreed for the former Porto boss.
With Roy Hodgson and Ray Lewington the only members of the management team set to leave this summer, Palace are currently well-staffed behind the scenes.
The landscape is currently proving difficult to negotiate for clubs searching for a new manager, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Celtic and West Bromwich Albion all in the hunt for new bosses.
Following Carlo Ancelotti's departure at Goodison Park, Everton have also been strongly linked with a move for Nuno, and could be ideally placed to agree a deal with the former Wolves manager.
The collapse of the deal means more frustration for Palace, who are eager to appoint a successor to Roy Hodgson with some urgency, with decisions to be made on the futures of a number of players before the end of June.
Christian Benteke has sealed a new deal that will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2023, but the likes of Joel Ward, Andros Townsend, Gary Cahill and Scott Dann are all set to leave at the end of June unless new contracts are agreed upon.
